Cycle Labs Releases Cycle 2.20, Introducing Step Plugins, Group Test Support in the Report Dashboard, and Enhanced VS Code Editing

Raleigh, NC (January 29, 2025): Cycle Labs, a leading software company in the enterprise test automation space and creator of the patented Cycle® Continuous Test Automation Platform, is excited to announce the release of Cycle 2.20, delivering powerful new capabilities to the Cycle Testing Platform. Key updates include support for group tests in the Cycle Report Dashboard, the ability to create custom Cycle steps with step plugins, and expanded editing features in the Cycle Visual Studio Code (VS Code) extension.

Key Features of Cycle 2.20

1. Group Test Support and Enhanced Navigation in the Report Dashboard
The Cycle Report Dashboard now supports group test reporting alongside features and playlists. A new navigation sidebar provides a seamless way to drill into test results.

• View all test launches, including start time, duration, and status.
• Easily navigate scenarios and collapse the sidebar for full-screen focus on results.
• Uniform support for all test types: features, playlists, and group tests.

2. Step Plugins: Create Your Own Steps
Step plugins empower users to create custom CycleScript steps through an API. These plugins extend Cycle’s capabilities and allow users to automate any system, delivering true end-to-end testing.

• Steps are defined via OpenAPI specifications and can be written in any language (Go and Java recommended).
• Focus on “what” your test needs to do, not just “how” it’s implemented.
• Cycle Labs will release its own step plugins in upcoming versions.

3. Enhanced Editing with VS Code Extension 1.2.0
The Cycle Testing extension for Visual Studio Code now includes syntax highlighting for additional file types:

• JSON-formatted files (.cycuser, .cycproj, .cvt).
• YAML-formatted .api files.

This update makes values and errors easier to identify while editing Cycle projects.
