Cycle Labs Releases Cycle 2.28 & 2.29 — Advancing Intelligent Test Creation and Reliable Test Data
Raleigh, NC (August 21, 2026): Cycle Labs, a leader in enterprise test automation for complex supply chain and ERP environments, announced the releases of Cycle 2.28 and 2.29. Together, these releases expand Cycle Intelligence capabilities, introduce Blueprints for repeatable test data setup and teardown, and enhance CI reporting to help testing teams move from understanding a system to building and executing reliable automated tests more efficiently.
Cycle 2.28 strengthened the connection between Intelligent Discovery and Intelligent Formulation through Cycle MCP. Discovery can ingest existing documents, including design documents, test plans, and ticket exports, and transform that information into structured test specifications. Those specifications can then feed directly into Formulation to support a smoother path from system knowledge to executable CycleScript tests.
The release also added Blue Yonder WMS-specific context and tools to help Cycle MCP agents formulate more accurate tests for common WMS behaviors.
Cycle 2.29 builds on that foundation with a more unified, guided Cycle Intelligence experience. A new begin-discovery prompt walks testers through Intelligent Discovery from start to finish, combining document ingest, questionnaires, discovery maps, and test plan generation into a single flow that can be resumed later. Formulation can then evaluate Discovery outputs for readiness, convert selected specifications into CycleScript tests, and execute the generated tests to confirm they run.
Another major addition in Cycle 2.29 is Blueprints, a declarative approach to managing the test data that automated tests depend on. Using YAML files, testers can define records such as items, customers, or outbound orders. Cycle creates the required records before testing and removes them afterward, helping each test begin from a known state rather than depending on data that happens to already exist.
Blueprints can be run from the command line, called directly from CycleScript feature files, or authored and executed through Cycle MCP. They support MOCA, SQL, REST, MongoDB, and flat file data sources, as well as SQLite for local, offline execution.

That means less time spent piecing together test inputs and setup, and a clearer path from understanding what needs to be tested to executing it in Cycle.”
The releases also expand Cycle’s reporting capabilities for continuous integration workflows. Cycle 2.28 introduced optional JUnit XML reporting for test runs, providing an industry-standard format for CI systems such as Jenkins. Cycle 2.29 adds screenshots to JUnit XML reports, with support for Jenkins and Azure DevOps, so testers reviewing failed pipeline runs can see relevant screenshots alongside test failures.
Cycle Labs has also continued to expand the Cycle Testing extension for VS Code alongside these releases. Recent updates make more of the testing workflow available directly within VS Code, including new project management tools, visual editors for playlists and group tests, and debugging support for CycleScript feature files. Testers can now set breakpoints and step through test execution using familiar VS Code debugging controls.
Cycle 2.28 and 2.29 also include fixes addressing Group CSV reporting, environment-variable expansion for stored credentials, output folders for data-driven test cases, and project settings initialization.
